2023: Hearts of Hope Year in Review

Thousands Receive Grief Support in 2023

2023 was a successful, meaningful year for Hearts of Hope as we continued to spread hope and healing through therapeutic art practices and grief support resources, education, and counseling support.

There were many highlights this past year, and some touched the hearts of others in extraordinary ways:

  • We created and piloted GRIT, an SEL-inspired (or Social Emotional Learning) program for middle schoolers that teaches resilience and healthy coping skills in response to grief and loneliness.
  • We celebrated our Hearts of Hope Newtown Chapter turning ten years old! To celebrate this 10th Anniversary, we hosted a summer series of Paint with a Purpose workshops in Newtown, CT. Community members painted hundreds of hearts to benefit the Senior Paw Project at the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary.
  • We expanded our blogs to provide education on important topics such as “12 Ways to Support Someone Through Grief,” “The Stages of Grief are Wrong,” “The Myth of a Grief Timeline,” and “How to Help Kids Cope with Uncertain Times.”
  • We launched our podcast, From Grief to Grit, where we speak with inspiring guests about grief, hope, and what we learn along the way.

Thank you for helping us make 2023 a success. We can’t wait to create more hope together in 2024!
