The Culture of Grief
Building cultural awareness surrounding bereavement patterns and rituals
A person’s or family's culture can consist of traditions and customs, religious beliefs, traits, behaviors, values, language, food and more.
Bereavement customs across cultures are equally varied, often unfamiliar and, at the same time, profoundly moving when understood and acknowledged.
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce bereavement patterns and rituals from a wide cross section of culturally diverse backgrounds, including families and groups of mixed cultures.
Illustrations will demonstrate methods for increased cultural understanding and sensitivity to assist and support all facing grief and loss.
Workshops and discussions can be customized to meet the needs of your organization or group.
